Lots of software buyers read daily newspapers
According to the 2004 study commissioned by the Newspaper Association of America (NAA), 48 percent of the 206,900,000 adults (aged 18+) in the US read a daily newspaper, and 56 percent read a Sunday paper. That's 100 million people during the week, and 116 million adults on the weekend.
The study found that readership increases steadily with higher earnings and education.
People read the tech columns
In another 2004 NAA study, they found that the number of readers of daily newspapers' Science and Technology sections varies from 15 percent to 28 percent, depending upon the age group and education level.
Educate these editors. Send them your software press release
The bottom line: Millions of people make software buying decisions based upon what they read in their daily newspapers. The editors who write computer, business, education, and other columns for these publications should be telling their readers about your software. You should be sending your press releases to the newspaper and magazine editors. It's good software marketing.
