input box

input box - The search box that you should consider placing on every content page of your website.

A search box lets your visitors search your site for keywords and key phrases. Some users like to find their way around your site by browsing, some like using a site map, and some prefer using a search box. You can find free and affordable search engines for your website that will allow you to define synonyms and keep statistics on key words and phrases that were searched.

interruption marketing

interruption marketing - The traditional approach of delivering an advertising message.

Interruption marketing intrudes on prospects and tries to get their attention, get their interest, and get their sale. Examples of interruption marketing are advertisements on television and radio, and phone calls that interrupt your dinner.

By contrast, see the review of Seth Godin's book "Permission Marketing".

The Invisible Touch by Harry Beckwith

Invisible Touch

"The Invisible Touch - The Four Keys to Modern Marketing" - a book by Harry Beckwith.

"The Invisible Touch" discusses the ways service providers should deal with pricing, branding, packaging, and relationships. While much of the information is written for consultants, accountants, and financial planners, it's easy to translate Beckwith's principles into the world of software marketing.

Is your software a product or a service? Your customers can't feel it. They want you to improve it and deliver additional functionality for years to come.

Delivering software shares a lot of characteristics of providing a service. As an example, successful software developers have to manage much more than the quality of their applications. They have to improve their websites, support systems, documentation, and dozens of other things that affect the customers' experiences.

Al Harberg's Software Marketing Newsletter ran my entire book review of "The Invisible Touch." You can read it in the software marketing archives on this site.

ISV
