Create high-resolution publication quality map images that can be pasted into popular packages such as MS Word. A built-in scripting language allows animated map displays, live serving of images to web pages and integration with other systems such as databases. Distances can be measured on-screen, places can be searched for and located by name, cursor position is constantly updated, and almost every display characteristic is configurable. Tutorials, examples of applications and additional support are available from the web site. A large number of example displays and comprehensive on-line help are provided with the software. Registered users have free access to high-resolution vector maps for their own country or region extracted from the Digital Chart of the World. AGIS can import maps and data in a variety of text export formats including GIS standard .e00 and .mif, allowing access to a large amount of free and low-cost geographic data on the Internet such as that provided by the US Census Bureau. Data can also be downloaded from Garmin hand-held GPS units and added to AGIS map displays. A fully functional demo is available to the public at http://www.agismap.com.
