Epsilon Squared, Inc. announced today that InstallWatch Professional 2.0 will ship on November 15, 1999. COMDEX Fall 1999 will be the first opportunity for the public to experience the enhanced functionality of InstallWatch Professional 2.0. "We chose COMDEX as the official launch for InstallWatch Professional 2.0 because no other event allows us to reach as many people, receive direct feedback on our products, and meet the needs of our customers" says Gavin Stark, president of Epsilon Squared, Inc.

InstallWatch is a Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95 application that records all changes made to a PC during the installation of software from the World Wide Web, CD-ROMs, or floppies. InstallWatch Professional is intended for PC professionals who require customizable control over how changes are tracked. DeployRite 2.0 assists distributors, outsourcers, and consultants with deploying software applications to many different customers or departments within an organization.

Epsilon Squared, Inc. today announced DeployRite version 2.0, a tool that speeds up and simplifies the process of configuring and deploying PCs by creating 'application images'. Companies can use DeployRite in conjunction with disk imaging tools such as Symantec's Norton Ghost and PowerQuest(R)'s Drive Image(TM) by separating the 'application images' from the operating system disk image. Separating the images saves both time and disk space since the 'application images' can be used with many different hardware/operating system images, and customers.

DeployRite monitors the changes made to a PC during a single or multiple application installation. DeployRite then creates an application image called the 'InstallKit'. The 'InstallKit' contains all the files, folders, registry settings, and information necessary to 'clone' those installation processes to other PCs. DeployRite allows for full customization and configuration of the installed applications before the creation of the 'InstallKit', thus allowing customer specific changes.

DeployRite will include an easy to use control panel and wizard to assist with installing applications and creating the 'InstallKits'. It will also include a menu where technicians can select multiple 'application images' to be applied in a single session.

DeployRite will support automatic 'installation relocation' if standard Windows folders are not named the same on all PCs. For example: if Windows 98 is in C:\Windows on the build PC, and Windows 98 is in D:\Win98 on the target PC, the installed application will still work since the files will be installed in the correct folder, and the registry settings will be adjusted automatically. The 'installation relocation' also works with other standard folders such as Program Files and My Documents.

DeployRite created 'InstallKit' files can be installed from a network server, the World Wide Web, CD-ROMs, or even from a copy on a hard drive. Each installation is completed in a fraction of the time compared to traditional software installation methods.

InstallRite Buys Time for CH2M HILL

Y2K deployment time cut by four months

BRADENTON, FLORIDA, August 31, 1999 - Epsilon Squared, Inc., a leading developer of tools that automate multiple installations and upgrades, announced today that CH2M HILL has used its InstallRite 1.1 product to dramatically expedite its Y2K readiness deployment. CH2M HILL, an engineering firm head quartered in Denver with offices throughout the US, Europe, and Asia, completed the installation of 19 desktop application updates on more than 1,500 PCs. The CH2M HILL technical staff used a base PC configuration and the InstallRite software to create a single self-installing package containing the 19 application updates. Y2K team members then used the package to manage and monitor the installation activity of the upgrades as they were applied to each PC.

"We calculated the time saved on each desktop at more than forty minutes," said Kalib Sumter, Regional Y2K Coordinator for CH2M HILL. "So, by using InstallRite's 'InstallKits' rather than individual vendor's setup routines, we literally shaved four months of person hours off our Y2K initiative."

The software updates that InstallRite supported in CH2M HILL's upgrade included Internet Explorer Updates, Office 97 (including Service Packs), MDAC 2.1 Updates, Acrobat Reader Updates, Outlook 98 Updates, Various Registry Updates, and several proprietary software upgrades.

Epsilon Squared, Inc. will release InstallWatch 1.1 Basic on June 1, 1999, to complement InstallWatch 1.1 Professional that was released on April 15, 1999. With InstallWatch 1.1 Basic, the casual PC user will be able to track changes made to their PC like the computer professional, but at a lower cost.

InstallWatch is a Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 95 application that records all changes made to a PC during the installation of software from the World Wide Web, CD-ROMS, or floppies. InstallWatch can also record all modifications made during configuration changes and hardware additions.

InstallWatch Basic is designed for individual PC users who want to track changes that are made to their PC, but don’t require the advanced features found in the professional version of InstallWatch. InstallWatch Basic uses a simplified interface to assist the user with documenting changes when installing software. Features included in InstallWatch Basic are: a wizard mode, printing, limited INI file change tracking, full registry change tracking, full documentation of all file and folder changes on the user’s “C” drive, and auto detecting of setup programs.

InstallWatch Professional is intended for PC professionals requiring additional control over how changes are tracked. The professional version includes everything in InstallWatch Basic plus these additional features: manual mode operation, the capability to define what changes are tracked, tracking of file version information, full INI file change tracking, monitoring of any drive including network drives, adding comments to each installation, exportable registry changes, browser viewable HTML reports, and the ability to create InstallKits which are compatible with Epsilon Squared’s InstallDistributor product.

To reproduce software installations, InstallDistributor utilizes InstallKits containing a mirror image of the application created from a source PC. InstallDistributor will precisely recreate the installation along with any configuration changes, system settings, user settings and preferences. The InstallKits can be installed from any media including CD-ROMS, the World Wide Web, a network server, or even from a copy on a hard drive. InstallDistributor comes with a simple to use interface allowing even the most novice user to utilize the InstallKit.
